April 18, 2021 ~ 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ Truth

“Truth” Absolute: Almighty God’s words to His human creation in the sixty-six books in the Bible.

The Bible testifies to and supports itself. Its words are not meant to confuse or be secretive for “truth” has nothing to hide. There are no hidden messages in the Bible. It was written to be read, understood, and followed. It was written directly to and for the people of God, being those who come to God through believing in His Son, Jesus Christ.

2nd Timothy 3: 16-17: “All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (NASB).

Remember, The Triune God Head, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is “guardedly jealous” of Their words to us in the Bible. In the Book of Revelation, words given by Jesus to John to record for His “bond servants,” there is a curse pronounced at the end of this book for anyone who would tamper with or alter the words recorded in the Biblical Text: “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book” (Rev. 22: 18-19, NASB).

As Christians we must both guard and cherish God’s Word like we cherish our own life because for us His Words are life. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” Amen!

1. Pick one or more families in your community to flood with love as they enter into the Thanksgiving and/or Christmas seasons. You might consider food baskets, gifts, decorations, etc.

2. Contact your nearest Salvation Army to see if they can use help with bell ringing this year.

3. Contact senior adult residencies and ask for names of residents. Send cards and/or write letters to individual residents.

4. Record a video of members singing Christmas carols that can be played at senior adult residencies, hospitals, etc. Different families can contribute videos of themselves singing one or two carols and those can be compiled into a larger video. Add a short devotional by a member or the pastor. You may even be able to put it on YouTube and send the link to administrators so they can play it to residents, patients, etc.

5. Set up a “Post Office” for a Christmas card exchange between members.

6. Enlist younger members to be prepared to shovel driveways of other members and neighbors in the event of snow this winter.

All it takes is someone to take the lead.
